Spring Camp 2013

Here's an idea,
Let's get 15 people in a kitchen to spend 3 hours making pho from scratch for 65 people!!!

Here we see 6 of us pulling apart 19 chickens to make broth and use for meat in the pho.

So. Much. Chicken.

Cookie-a-thon, Notary Signing and AGM

Spring Camp was a blast. Check out all the photos and videos on facebook (facebook registration required).

Save the date for the notary signing and Annual General Meeting on Sunday June 2, 1pm-4pm.

Register now (closes May 28th): Cookie-a-thon (C.A.T for short) is planned for the evening/overnight Friday May 31, 2013. Register either for the evening only ($20), or for overnight with breakfast ($25). The fees pay for the location and the cookie ingredients.

  • Drop Off: 6:30pm on Friday
  • Pick Up: 8:00am on Saturday (if you are staying overnight)
  • Where: Check your email for details

C.A.T. is a classic CISV event where we bake cookies all night long. Participants are split into baking groups and take shifts making cookies. When groups aren't making cookies, they are playing super fun CISV games and hanging out. It's a great way to meet new chapter members, bond with your delegation and support the organization! The funds from cookie sales go to CISV National.

If you have any questions, the JB Co-chairs, Ben and Sam, will help you out. Contact them at jb.chair at cisvottawa.ca

Parent volunteers please contact jbvolunteercoordinators at gmail.com or volunteer at cisvottawa.ca. Don't forget your police check.

All kids participating must sign up or renew and pay CISV membership fees.

Spring Camp and Cookie-a-thon

Registration is open for Spring Camp until April 30. Our annual weekend-long camp is from May 3rd to 5th. Campers participate in activities focusing on human rights, peace, and social issues, as well as lots of fun games that build teamwork and leadership! IT IS SO FUN. Spring Camp is a great opportunity to meet new friends and bond with other CISVers. The camp cost is $70. Log in and register now, or download/view the pre-camp (must be logged in).

Spring Camp theme: HEADLINES. Participants will explore current events and deconstruct media, bias and differing  viewpoints. It's important that we look at the news with a critical eye!

Save the date: Cookie-a-thon is planned for the evening/overnight Friday May 31, 2013. Bake cookies, have fun, tell your parents you got some sleep, sell the cookies to your friends and family to raise money for CISV.

JB Ottawa 14+ Winter Camp!

January 2nd-6th, 2013 (for the location email jb.chair at cisvottawa.ca)

Registration for "2013 Winter Camp" is open now (14+ only please).

Theme: Snowball! One Little Thing can Become Something Much Larger

Winter Camp is a 5 day camp for all 14+ JB during the winter holidays. Similar to Summer Camp, participants are responsible for running their own activities in planning groups throughout the camp. Plus, members from all chapters in Canada are invited, so it is a great way to meet CISVers from other cities and catch up with friends that you've met on previous trips!

Volunteers
For those who are over 21 and would like to attend the camp we would love to have you as volunteers! Don’t worry though; you will still get to participate in our awesome activities. There is NO camp cost for being a volunteer, having you there is all we need. However a 2013 CISV Ottawa membership is required. We will also require a police check.

Cost
Ontario and Quebec - $160
All Other Provinces - $40 (We take into consideration that traveling will cost $$$)

Members from other chapters
You can Register for Winter Camp through the web site. Please indicate your home chapter. If you have a membership with another chapter, you can register for Winter Camp without having an Ottawa membership. Questions about the web site can be addressed to web at cisvottawa.ca. If all else fails and you can't register via the web site, please fill out this registration form, and email it to jb.chair at cisvottawa.ca. Do not use this form unless you already have a valid CISV chapter membership somewhere other than Ottawa.

Parent with Trailer Hitch?
Is there a parent that will be driving to winter camp that has a trailer hitch on the back of their vehicle? We are looking to get a Uhaul trailer to transport luggage, and it is a lot cheaper than renting a second bus. The trailer would need to be driven to camp on January the 2nd, and driven back to Ottawa on the 6th. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Please email jb.chair at cisvottawa.ca
