CISV has volunteer opportunities for junior counselors and adult leaders every year.

CISV Adult Leaders

Age 21+

  • one of the main keys to the success of any CISV program
  • from all walks of life, but most often university students or teachers versatile and dedicated to cooperative living
  • able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
  • organized
  • volunteer

In recognition of their volunteer commitment, the Ottawa chapter:

  • provides free local and national training
  • pays for CPR and first aid certification
  • covers their program and airfare costs

Leaders are responsible for:

  • chapter membership fee of $100 (family) or $25 (volunteer);
  • attending key information/social events run by the chapter
  • attending training
  • sharing the goals and values of CISV with their delegates
  • the costs associated with passport applications, medical expenses, and personal expenses

CISV Junior Counselors

Age 16-17

  • play an important role in the Village program
  • bridge the gap between the 11-year-old participants and the adult leaders
  • receive valuable local and national training that is paid for by the chapter
  • volunteer

Junior Counselors are responsible for (see Program Fees Policy):

  • chapter membership fee;
  • chapter host fee towards the costs of hosting programs in Ottawa;
  • CISV Canada and CISV International fees; and
  • airfare and related travel costs* (e.g., travel insurance, visas, local transportation) due upon chapter billing.

*Travel costs will vary depending on travel destination. Applicants must be prepared to pay for any of the potential travel destinations for the program to which they are applying.

Steps to follow to apply:

 

  1. Submit your application by the November 30th, 2011 deadline (Address is on the application form).
  2. Sign up online as a member by clicking here
  3. Once you’re signed up, you will have access to the police record check page by clicking here. This needs to be included as part of the application process.
  4. You will need to complete the staff/leader application and two reference form.
  5. We will need a copy of your passport page, - the one with your picture.
  6. Please confirm that you have a current first aid certificate by providing a copy. If you don’t have this, just let us know as that will become part of the required training.
  7. Sign up online to register for selection weekend here
