CISV has volunteer opportunities for Junior Counselors and Adult Leaders every year, as well as some programs requiring Junior Leaders. Contact the Leadership Chair and see Programs for further details.

Adult Leader

As a CISV leader you are:

  • one of the main keys to the success of any CISV program
  • from all walks of life, but often a university student or teacher
  • versatile and dedicated to cooperative living
  • able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
  • organized
  • a volunteer

Leaders are responsible for:

  • attending key information/social events run by the chapter
  • attending training
  • participating in delegation meetings and camps
  • sharing the goals and values of CISV with your delegates

Program Costs:

  • Chapter Membership Fee of $25 (volunteer) or $130 (family)
  • Costs associated with passport applications, medical expenses, and personal expenses

In recognition of your volunteer commitment, the Ottawa chapter:

  • provides free local and national training
  • pays for CPR and first aid certification
  • covers your program fees and airfare costs

Junior Leader (18+)

As a CISV Junior Leader you will:

  • play an important role in the Interchange or Peace Bus program
  • be aged 18+ and at least four years older than the delegates (Interchange) or 19+ (Peace Bus)
  • bridge the gap between the delegates and the adult leaders
  • receive valuable local and national training that is paid for by the chapter

Program Costs:

  • Chapter Membership Fee of $130 (family) or $50 (individual living on own)
  • Selection Camp Fee of $100
  • Program Fees as stated in the Program Fees Policy

Junior Counselor (16-17)

As a CISV Junior Counselor (JC) you will:

  • play an important role in the Village program
  • bridge the gap between the 11-year-old participants and the adult leaders
  • receive valuable local and national training that is paid for by the chapter
